The Italian Experience: Cowema Studio's Private Introduction to Bontempi

The Cut Kitchen Indonesia Opening Party: Celebrating the Warmth of Italian Kitchens in Jakarta

Cheers!

Something felt wonderfully different at The Cut Kitchen showroom in Jakarta Design Center that evening. The rich aroma of freshly baked lasagna mingled with the clanking of cocktail glasses, bringing genuine warmth to a space typically defined by the sleek sheen of marble and refined timber. That evening, The Cut—a luxury kitchen brand hailing from Veneto, Italy, renowned as a “voice outside the chorus” for its bold departure from conventional market trends—officially celebrated its debut in Indonesia.

Martin Lim

This milestone entry was spearheaded by Martin Lim, Experience Design Curator Director at PT Progetto Arte Studio, who brought the brand’s distinctive philosophy across continents for the very first time. Joining him for the occasion were Fabio Setten, CEO of The Cut Kitchen, and Alessandro Isola, the brand’s Art Director and architect, both of whom flew directly from Italy to mark the brand’s official arrival.

Fabio & Alessandro

The evening’s most memorable moments unfolded not on stage, but directly in the kitchen. Fabio personally stepped up to prepare a family lasagna following his mother’s cherished recipe, while Alessandro crafted his signature cocktails for the guests—a gesture reflecting The Cut’s core philosophy: that the kitchen is above all a space for sharing and connection, rather than just a showcase of luxury furniture.

Flagship Island Kitchen

Four flagship island kitchen configurations were showcased during the event:
  • Origine captivated guests with its vertical rhythmic cuts in wood and marble that play with light and shadow—a design by Alessandro Isola that previously won the prestigious 2024 Archiproducts Design Award.
  • Eterea positioned a striking circular island at the center of the room, anchored by subtle vertical light accents.
  • Essential Ego offered a sleek, compact setup featuring functional integrated compartments for daily kitchen essentials.
  • Transitional Divina stood out with clean, straight frame lines that exude timeless elegance.

Alex Bayu of Genius Loci

The showroom layout was curated by Alex Bayu of Genius Loci, seamlessly blending The Cut’s distinct Italian aesthetic with Jakarta’s contemporary urban context. Among the distinguished guests present were Theo and Dhila representing Cowema Studio, joining a vibrant crowd of design enthusiasts and industry professionals.

The Cut Kitchen at JDC

Far more than a showroom launch, the opening party served as a reminder that the finest kitchens are not merely defined by luxury, but by their ability to bring people together. And now, that philosophy has found its new home in Jakarta.
