Inside KATTA Indonesia’s exclusive showroom preview of one of Italy’s most storied furniture houses. Some brands introduce themselves through a catalogue. Bontempi introduced itself to us through a room.
“The Italian Experience”
On Wednesday, 30 July 2026, Cowema Studio — represented by Ryssa Tsania and Fayre Samantha — accepted a private invitation from KATTA Indonesia to “The Italian Experience”, an intimate showroom session unveiling Bontempi. Guiding the afternoon were Francesco Saccomandi, Bontempi’s Chief Marketing Officer, and Siska Damayanti of the KATTA team, who walked us through six decades of Italian design history and, more usefully, what still sets this house apart in a country crowded with furniture brands.

About Bontempi
Founded in 1963 and still manufactured entirely in Italy, Bontempi’s answer rests on four pillars: Made in Italy, Creativity, Craftsmanship, and Quality Certification. Every piece begins life as one of thousands of sketches studied for relevance, is shaped by expert hands working alongside precision machinery, and leaves the factory COSMOB and CATAS certified — technical proof behind the beauty. It’s a rigour visible on the award shelf, from the 1987 Compasso d’Oro for the Delfina chair to a freshly minted 2026 Red Dot for the Petra armchair, with the Kimono table, Amelie chair, and Eden sideboard among the recent honorees.
The Depth of Choice
What struck us most was the depth of choice behind that consistency: 360 fabrics, 70 leathers, 15 metal finishes, and 14 wood tones, spread across tables, seating, sofas, and lighting — from the smoked-glass Rain pendant to the brass-framed Blow table lamp. Bontempi calls this “industrial tailoring,” and we watched it staged, quite literally, across two curated rooms at the KATTA showroom.
First Area
The first leaned formal and tailored: the leather-clad Piper console, the glass-and-mirror Eden sideboard, the sculpted Sally chair, and Andrea Lucatello’s barrel-topped Bach table, its lacquered metal base grounding the whole composition.
Second Area
The second told a softer, more sculptural story — e-ggs’ fluid Kimono table surrounded by the Doris armchair and Cuno Frommherz’s Amelie chairs, a Supermarble-topped Yang coffee table at its centre, and the glass-shelved Kunta sideboard closing the vignette. Two rooms, two entirely different homes, built from the same design language.
Bontempi’s multi-product configurator
Before we left, Saccomandi opened Bontempi’s multi-product configurator — a digital tool that lets a designer build an entire room online, swapping finishes and materials in real time before a single piece is ever produced. It summed up the whole afternoon in one interactive screen: precision, choice, and imagination, working in tandem.
Souce: Bontempi Brand Manifesto
For Cowema Studio, “The Italian Experience” was exactly that — a reminder that Made in Italy is never just a label. At Bontempi, it’s a discipline, and one worn remarkably well.
