Tucked within the elegant surroundings of Laflo Experience Menteng, a quiet Wednesday afternoon recently turned into an immersive encounter with one of Italy’s most celebrated names in interior design. In an intimate private session hosted by Laflo Experience Indonesia, the Cowema team — Ridha and Nia — along with invited guests from fellow design studios, gathered to be introduced to Flou: a brand that has spent nearly five decades redefining what it means to truly rest.
Gisela and Luca
Gisela and Luca, representatives visiting directly from Italy, led the session with warmth and depth — walking guests through Flou’s remarkable journey. Founded in 1978 in Meda, Italy, Flou began with a single revolutionary idea — the Nathalie bed, the first modern padded textile bed with fully removable covers. That debut product set the tone for everything that followed: a brand built not on trends, but on the belief that the bedroom is a deeply personal space, deserving the finest craftsmanship and the most thoughtful design.
Form follows function
“Form follows function” — this guiding philosophy was evident throughout the afternoon as guests were invited to explore the Flou installations spread across the Laflo Menteng space. Two distinct bed designs took center stage.
The Gaudì bed
The Gaudì bed, designed by Matteo Nunziati, drew admiration for its distinctive solid wood frame and gracefully curved headboard.
Yuna bed
Nearby, the Yuna bed offered a softer contrast, with its generous upholstered curved headboard in fabric or leather that invites immediate comfort.
The Slat System
One of the most engaging revelations of the afternoon was Flou’s Leonardo slat system — the wooden base beneath the mattress whose individual slats can be physically adjusted. Sliding them closer creates a firmer feel; spacing them wider introduces more give and elasticity. It’s a level of customization rarely seen, making each bed as personal as the person sleeping in it.

The tour continued through a dedicated materials room, where guests could handle fabric swatches firsthand — a tactile reminder that at Flou, every detail is considered.
