The National Architecture Installation Festival (NAIFEST) 2024, held alongside IndoBuildTech Expo 2024 at ICE BSD, was a vibrant celebration of architectural creativity. From August 7-11, 2024, the festival brought together architects and interior designers from various studios to showcase their unique installations, with a total of 15 impressive displays on exhibit. Among these, Cowema Studio’s “Vastum” quickly became a highlight of the event.

The festival kicked off on August 7 with a bustling crowd eager to explore the diverse installations. Vastum’s booth, located in Nusantara Hall 2, immediately drew attention with its innovative use of upcycled materials and interactive activities. Visitors were captivated by the display of suspended waste materials, and the booth became a hub of activity as people of all ages participated in the wall painting exercise.

The painting activity, designed to promote environmental sustainability, turned out to be a huge hit. By the end of the first day, many visitors had already expressed how therapeutic and fun it was to contribute their artistic touches to the collaborative mural. The activity was so popular that the canvas, which was meant to last throughout the event, was completely filled by the second day. On August 8, Cowema’s team quickly responded by putting up a new canvas, allowing the painting to continue.

Many children, accompanied by their parents, were drawn to the painting activity at the Vastum booth. The kids became so engrossed in their artwork that their parents grew restless while waiting and tried to convince them to leave. However, the children were too absorbed in their painting to want to go home, leading some parents to promise a return visit to the Vastum booth the next day just to get their kids to leave.

As the festival drew to a close on Sunday, August 11, 2024, the organizers announced the best 5 installations based on visitor votes. This recognition was a testament to the booth’s success in engaging and resonating with the audience throughout the event.

The festival ended on a high note, with visitors reflecting on the creativity and innovation displayed by all the participating studios. For Cowema Studio, the success of the Vastum booth was a clear indication of the public’s growing interest in sustainability and the creative reuse of materials. The recognition as a top installation was the perfect conclusion to a week filled with inspiration, creativity, and meaningful engagement with the community.
